With the #104 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft the Carolina Hurricanes selected Finnish goalie Eetu Makiniemi from the Finnish junior league.

The Hurricanes went off the board a bit when they selected Makiniemi in the fourth round. In a deep goalie class, he was not near the top of the list. The 6 foot 2 inch Makiniemi has a good combination of size, quickness and athletic ability and has as good of a chance as any to progress to the NHL level somewhere down the road.
