Sebastian Aho was injured in the closing seconds of Kärpät’s match last week:
Struck by a slapshot in the neck, Aho remained conscious and had feeling in all his extremities as he was taken off the ice on a stretcher. His team reported that he stayed in a hospital overnight for observations before being discharged. He has yet to return to skating or training. Various Finnish media outlets first reported he may be out for four weeks, but recent news says he’ll rejoin his team for workouts by the end of the week.
That prognosis will we welcome news for Team Finland’s World Junior Hockey Team management as Aho is expected to play a top-six role in the upcoming U20 tournament at the end of December.
Prior to the Injury, the 18 year old Aho had seen increased ice time for his Liiga team, playing 19 minutes a game on Kärpät’s first line.
