Profile for Jeremy Helvig
Jeremy Helvig was the Hurricanes fifth-round selection in the 2016 NHL draft. Helvig played goalie for the Kingston Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League for the 2015-16 season. At 6 foot 4 inches tall and 202 pounds, Helvig has size similar to other ‘new NHL’ goalies. He is a draft re-entry player whose stock rose when he rebounded from a rough first year in the OHL in 2014-15 and played increasingly better as the 2015-16 season wore on. He won the OHL Eastern Conference’s Most Improved player award during the 2015-16 season.
