Profile for Julien Gauthier (added 7/5/16 before prospect camp)
With the team’s second selection in the first round, the Carolina Hurricanes selected right wing Julien Gauthier. Gauthier is a hulk of a kid at 18 years old and already 6 foot 4 inches tall and 225 pounds. The Quebec native who played for the Val-d’Or Foreurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2015-16 is described as big, strong and skilled in that order. He projects to become the power forward, physical force and crease area scorer that the Hurricanes brass and fan base have long coveted.
