The second half of August has been usual second half of August slow in terms of Carolina Hurricanes or NHL news. But the good news out of Raleigh Center Ice is that we are getting closer as regular reports continue to surface on Twitter about players taking part in informal skates leading up to the start of training camp.
News-wise things have been light, but if you were away from Canes and Coffee for the week, we can at least offer you a batch of six (once Sunday’s goes up) articles in our ‘Back to School’ series that is checking in on Hurricanes prospects below the AHL level. You can find a clickable, up to date menu of all of articles posted thus far HERE.
On the news front, there is more prospect-centric content, something for those who just want to see something hockey at this point and a few more articles.
Carolina Hurricanes’ Traverse City Prospects Tourney roster announced
At CarolinaHurricanes.com, you can find the news release on the Traverse City roster including a link to the full roster.
Here at Canes and Coffee, we also offered a couple layers of thoughts about the Traverse City roster.
This article by Nicholas Niedzielski at the Charlotte Checkers’ website on the announcement on Mike Vellucci being named the Charlotte Checkers’coach is a bit dated (July 13) but fits well with the Traverse City theme since he will coach that team and then many of the players from it when they arrive in Charlotte.
Looking forward to the 2017-18 season
JT at CBTS Blog shares his thoughts on what to expect in 2017-18 from Hurricanes returnee Justin Williams.
And for those looking to dive into a breakdown of the 2017-18 schedule, please check out Canes and Coffee’s breakdown of exactly that.
For the visually-inclined who just need to SEE hockey again
Jamie Kellner who is a credentialed photographer for the Canes and an editor and community manager for Canes Country has photos up on her photo site from the prospect camp in late June and also a few from the informal skates.
