While spending a decent amount of night time free time enjoying the Olympics, I managed to happen upon a few solid nuggets of Carolina Hurricanes hockey coverage to bide time for another week of the offseason. This week’s collection features new and old/new Canes news sources.

Carolina Hurricanes coverage roundup

The newest kid on the block for Hurricanes hockey coverage, Chris Cote, predicts the team’s opening day forward lines and defense pairings in his first couple posts on new site CC on Canes.

The Section 328 crew did their annual August interview with John Forslund who is obviously always worth a listen.

At the broader NHL level, former long-time voice (and face) of Hurricanes pre-game and post-game Mike Maniscalco has found a new home at The Hockey Writers and suggests that the NHL should do different and better in terms of marketing the stars of the game.

Brett Finger from The Hockey Writers offered some great in-depth analysis that suggests that the Hurricanes would be better off had they re-signed Riley Nash.

I went out on a ledge here at Canes and Coffee earlier this week and questioned (with disclaimers) Ron Francis’ summer moves including the Riley Nash/Jay McClement/Viktor Stalberg situation.

Jake Bean

Leah Dyck at The Hockey Writers has a great read on Jake Bean that includes a short recent update on Bean’s play at Canada’s National Junior Evaluation Camp and also some of his history reaching this point in his young career.

Go Canes!
