In case you missed it, last Sunday offered the first edition of the Canes Chronicle. You can find it HERE if you missed it and want to catch up on what this new weekly post is.
This week’s Canes Chronicle offers links to coverage of 5 players who have a reasonable chance to be the Canes selection at #13 in the 2016 NHL draft.
Basic premise is:
1) Though Francis will likely add a defenseman and/or goalie or 2 throughout the draft, he will enter the draft with a bias toward selecting forwards all things being equal as he tries to balance out the Canes prospect pool that is strong on the blue line and light at forward currently.
2) There is a reasonably strong consensus of first and second tiers of forwards with 3 players each. Even if 1-2 of the players from the second tier slipped, it would unlikely be all the way to #13.
3) This week’s set of clickable links includes a decent sample (there are other possibilities) of the players who are forwards who have reasonable chance to be available and of interesting to the Carolina Hurricanes at #13.

Go Canes!
After reading the evaluations of the top 20 or so, and looking at how they might fit the Canes, it seems #13 isn’t in a very good spot. There might be a sleeper, or two…but baring that I would look to trade (up or down) and get a better fit, or a player we could use sooner! If RF sees someone he really likes, then this might be the time to use some of those extra picks, and move up to get him. If not, teams like LA, and Chi. could take some picks in exchange for player(s).
