Thank goodness for the summer Olympics as we enter the really slow part of the summer for NHL hockey. Despite the lack of new news, this week’s Canes Chronicle has a pretty good grab bag of Huricanes hockey reading from around the internet to help get you another week closer to 2016-17 Hurricanes hockey.

The (other) Cup in Raleigh

While we wait for the Stanley Cup to return to Raleigh in the hands of the Hurricanes, local NWHL player Alyssa Gagliardi brought the Isobel Cup back to Raleigh and is featured in this interview on the Hurricanes web site.

Prospect update

Kevin LeBlanc from Dobber Prospects offers a Canes prospect update in his Hurricanes entry for Dobber Prospects’ 30-in-30 series.

Elias Lindholm

Matt Krombach from The Hockey Writers suggests that it could be time for Elias Lindholm to find a higher gear in year 4 of his NHL career.

Sebastian Aho

Jared Clinton from The Hockey News has Sebastian Aho in his article naming top 2015 draftees expected to make NHL debuts to start the 2016-17 season.

‘Weird Carolina Hurricanes’

Derek Roessler and Mike Flanagan from Section 328 were appropriately enlisted for a light-hearted Hurricanes article as part of Puck Daddy’s ‘Weird NHL’ series at Yahoo! Sports.

As always, please ping me in via email or Twitter if you happen upon a great Hurricanes article during the week, especially if it is not from a regular source that covers the team. My late Saturday night free time appreciates your help. 🙂

Go Canes!
