Anything written today would be incomplete without first noting the significance of today as Memorial Day and taking a moment to acknowledge the great men and women who have lost their lives defending our country and freedom across the globe. And for the families who consider these heroes loved ones, I cannot say enough how appreciative I am for the sacrifices that your loved ones made made and the loss that you have endured.

Since Tom Dundon purchased the Hurricanes at the front part of 2018, the team has undergone a significant changeover in terms of management both in the executive suites and on the bench. Canes and Coffee covered those changes as they happened (see bottom set of article links), but as we embark on the journey with new people and some old people in new roles, it is interesting to gather perspective from different angles. Today’s Daily Cup of Joe harks back to the old “Sunday Canes Chronicle” in offering a decent collection of articles (mostly interviews) on the current Carolina Hurricanes management ranks. Many of these articles date back a bit, so be sure to check if each is something you have already read.

Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour

For your listening pleasure while you read some of the articles, Rod Brind’Amour was on the Power Play with Laughlin and O’Sullivan on Sirius XM Radio shortly after being named the head coach.

On May 10, shortly after Brind’Amour was named head coach, Greg Wyshynski offered this interview with him on Tom Dundon and his new role as head coach.

Luke DeCock from the News & Observer chimed in on Brind’Amour’s hiring with this article from May 9.

Adam Gold from WRALSportsFan.com offered another local opinion on Brind’Amour’s hiring in this article.

In case you missed it, we at Canes and Coffee initially chimed in on Rod Brind’Amour’s hiring HERE and later followed up with an article entitled “In Rod We Trust”.

General Manager Don Waddell

New General Manager Don Waddell was interviewed by Steve Kouleas for NHL Game Day on Sirius XM Radio shortly after he was announced as the long-term general manager.

Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Rick Dudley

Michael Russo from The Athletic profiled new VP of Hockey Operations Rick Dudley in this article from May 2.

Vice President of Hockey Operations Paul Krepelka

Craig Custance from The Athletic interviewed Paul Krepelka on May 15, 2018 about his new role with the team that seemed to pull him away from a high school athletic director role. (Likely need subscription to access this one.)

Luke DeCock from the News & Observer offered a fairly deep dive into Krepelka’s history shortly after he was hired into his current role.

Manager of Analytics Eric Tulsky

On May 16, Brian LeBlanc from Canes Country checked in with Eric Tulsky on changes to his role and the process with the revamped front office.

From the ‘oldie but goodie’ category for anyone who missed it (and likely requiring a subscription to The Athletic, Tyler Dellow sat down with Eric Tulsky at the Sloan Conference on March 8 for an extended interview with some insight into Tulsky’s role.

Go Canes!
