As one of the players who made the move from Hartford to North Carolina, old school NHL enforcer Stu Grimson stopped in about long enough to have a cup of sweet tea and sample but not make a personal choice on Eastern versus Western barbecue sauce. In the Canes inaugural season in the NHL and over the course of that short meal, the “Grim Reaper” introduced newly minted North Carolina hockey fans to some of the finer points of pugilism in the NHL. In that one season, Grimson played all 82 games and amassed 204 penalty minutes, which is still a single season high for the Canes. So he is the answer to Canes first captain=>Kevin Dineen … Canes first enforcer=>______ and gets credit for introducing Canes fans to the rougher side of NHL hockey especially in the late 90s.
