I hope everyone is having a tremendous holiday weekend with friends, family and food. I hope everyone also takes the time to remember what Memorial Day is for — remembering the people who died serving our country.

Despite the slow news days of May and a busy week at work, here are a few Canes news items from around the internet this week:

Sebastian Aho article by Luke DeCock at the News & Observer

This has a few interesting quotes for how Canes GM Ron Francis sees Aho for next season.

ANCIENT article by Scott Burnside at ESPN that has some Canes lore and talks about the origin of greeting the team at the airport.

I cannot wait until we greet the team for playoff return trips next spring.

Here is Michelle McMahon doing a Skype interview with Noah Hanifin following his participation for Team USA in the world championships.

And here is Michelle McMahon losing to Shane Willis in a Canes spelling bee.

I think these 2 short videos combined are a great illustration of what she does so well in her role with the Hurricanes broadcast and internet teams. With her “2 in the box” series and interviews like this 1 with Noah Hanifin, she does an incredibly good job at working with the variety of personalities and different levels of camera comfort on the team. The second video captures her fun personality and energy that are a great part of the Hurricanes community.

Chris Peters from CBSSports.com discussed Justin Faulk’s surprising omission (along with others) from the US World Cup team for next fall.

As disappointed as I am that Justin Faulk did not get the recognition that he deserved, the shorter season and hopefully chip on his shoulder could be very good for Hurricanes hockey next season.

Go Canes!
