I grew up a Cubs fan watching the Chicago Cubs on WGN BEFORE it was a cable station and when pretty much every home game was a 1:15pm start except for the occasional doubleheader or business man’s special 3pm start on Friday, so despite the fact that this is obviously a Hurricanes hockey site, I feel the need to interject just a little bit of Cubs anyway.

And the fact that Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians are playing in a world series is perhaps a perfectly-timed reminder that waiting for a sports team to succeed just makes it that much more special when it happens.

With that, here is today’s collection of Carolina Hurricanes reading from around the internet…

Elias Lindholm

BarneyFife at CanesEdge offers this tour through Elias Lindholm’s first 3+ years as a Carolina Hurricanes player. Timing is good for an alternate viewpoint on this, as I have a draft of an Elias Lindholm article that will probably be the daily post for either Monday or Tuesday.

Jeff Skinner / Victor Rask / Lee Stempniak

Kyle Morton at Canes Country asks (after 3 games) if the Hurricanes have an elite first line.

Andrew Hirsh from Today’s Slapshot suggested that Jeff Skinner was primed for a big year (notably before it started happening).

Ron Francis’ master plan

Perhaps with the Hurricanes sputtering a bit to start the 2016-17 season, Matt Krombach from The Hockey Writers taking a longer-term look at Francis’ path is a well-timed read to remind us of the progress despite the current struggles.

Go Canes!
