Now entering the dead of the hockey summer, this week’s round of Carolina Hurricanes news from around the internet is a random assortment:

Haydn Fleury

Kurt Dusterburg from NHL.com wrote about Haydn Fleury’s growing leadership skills.

Michael Smith at the Carolina Hurricanes official web site also offered a glowing review of Haydn Fleury’s progress.

In case you missed it, I was a bit more negative on Fleury’s chances to crack the opening day roster not because of his readiness but rather because of the numbers game, depth and situation with the Hurricanes defense.

Miscellaneous

Ben Pope from the News & Observer (who is having a phenomenal summer covering the Hurricanes as an intern there) painted a favorable picture for 2016-17 attendance based on an interview with Don Waddell.

In case you missed my retweet of it on Twitter, Brock Otten at OHL Prospects reviewed the 8 Canes prospects who played in the OHL last season.

Victor Findlay from CIS Hockey details Derek Ryan’s long journey to the NHL.

Especially as we get closer to the regular season when the news volume picks up and my Hurricanes time gets spent trying to keep up at CandC, I would greatly appreciate if readers would send a quick heads up via Twitter or email when you read a great Hurricanes article especially if it is not from a local, commonly-read source.

Go Canes!
